Search Me and Try Me

Matthew 5:4  Blessed are those who mourn,
        For they shall be comforted.

It is Jesus’ desire that we learn to mourn over our sin.  It is Jesus’ desire to comfort us when we do.

David understood this – and so he prayed:
    Search me, O God, and know my heart;
    Try me, and know my anxieties;
    And see if there is any wicked way in me,
    And lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23,24)

Search me, O God.  Will you stop right now and ask God to search you and reveal to you what He sees? It really doesn’t take Him that long.
Now respond to what He has shown you.

That’s it for today.  Just a few words, but if applied, they will have a powerful impact – and comfort – in your life.

Love in Jesus,
cathy

  2. The Lord is telling me this morning to trust Him and to walk with Him everyday and not be anxious about what's happening around me.

    In Phil. 4:6 it says, And not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

    Phil. 4:19, And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

    PSA 119:9 says, "Wherewithal (how) shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word."

    Confessing my sins, repenting and living God's Word.

    The great and mighty things can be searched out daily by God if we only CALL to Him. He says He will answer us. That is a Truth we can hold on to. He will show us things about ourselves that no one else can. We can’t even know them in our selves.

    Jer. 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it? … I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind,

    If we accept this Truth we get to see what we are really about. Then the Truth brings forth Freedom and in Freedom we are brought to the place of repentance and comfort.

  4. Sharon's comment was considered spam by Google and not posted to "protect us". I had to laugh when I realized it was probably spammed because she wrote: "Call unto Me and I will answer you". What an absolutely pure and wonderful statement that is from our Lord. Truly, those who do not know Him cannot relate and thus, discard this glorious promise! But, for us who do - oh, what a wonder that we can call on the Almighty God and He answers our cries - AND He shows us great and mighty things. May you delight in that today.

  5. He is showing me that I am heavy laden with burdens I am not meant to carry. He sweetly says, "Allow Me. Arise and shine in the midst of the circumstances."

  6. That last comment must be by someone else that is reading 'Springs in the Desert' this year. The Lord also continued that theme of burdens we're not meant to carry in my own quiet time. Apparently, there is a theme here. :)

  7. He showed me that He has forgiven - I am to leave it there at the cross. He casts it as far as east is from the west. Leave it with HIM.
