Romans 4:2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. Ephesians 2:8,9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Works to gain God's approval are like padding - all they do is keep us at a distance from feeling Him, experiencing Him, and enjoying Him. It's all about Jesus!
