Bring Them Here to Me

And they said to Him, "We have here only five loaves and two fish."
He said, "Bring them here to Me."   Matthew 14:17-18

They basically said to Jesus, "What we have is not sufficient".  The apostle Paul got it.  He wrote in
2 Corinthians 2:16 .. and who is sufficient for these things

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
2 Corinthians 3:5

Jesus knew that the disciples (and every believer) did not have what it took to meet Jesus command to meet the needs of the people.  He already knew what He was going to do.  He gives you and me the awesome privilege of being a part of His work by using our loaves and fish.

The loaves and fish were placed in His hands.  They were given to Him for His use.  That's what He asks of us - to give to Him what we have.  What He does with it is up to Him.  He already knows what He's going to do with what we give to Him. (John 6:6)

May it be all to His glory.

  1. Today Dale said,"Offer what you have and what and who you are to Him." and also
"If there's going to be a multiplying there's got to be a breaking first."...a breaking of my will.
My will is the only thing Jesus is really asking me to give. And in giving Him my will, to use as He wills (the breaking),He multiplies His love in me and through me onto others.
Lord, please help me by reminding me of the sweetness that comes with giving You my will.

Pastor Dale said " the miracle occurs when placed in His hands" What were you encouraged to place in His hands, that you have not before? I placed something there, that I have given and taken back before. I gave this time, not in fearful trepidation that I might fail but in the wonder and certainty that God knows my need and desires to meet it more fully than I could ever conceive on my own. I finally got the order right:
Obey - come to Him and do as He directs. Don't hesitate to obey. Just do what He asks me to do.
    In turn, He will:(verse 19)
Bless - love and gift me for His purpose
Break - change me for my good that I may be more useful, fruitful, and thankful
Give - He will use me!

In all I must remember: it is WHO I bring it to that matters, because "miracles occur when placed in His hands."
